Music machine contest
Instructables has been busily underway with their latest contest. I normally don’t pay too much attention to these contests, but this latest round has caused me to pay special attention. The Art of Sound contest calls on the great hive minds of the internets to submit examples of speaker enclosures, intstruments, and just about anything that effects audible tones. Amateur music making and instrument building is a exciting art– although a sometimes excruciating art. It’s good to see the craft is living strong among a few practitioners.
Here are three of my favorite selections:
Audio Cassette Loop

Old skool loops and delay effects with no budget.
Plunger Talkbox

http://www.instructables.com/id/Build-a-Talk-box-inside-a-Toilet-Plunger/
A simple talkbox. Good first project for anyone and mad props to the maker of the bent casio Pt-1 in the demo.
LASER Synth

Circuit bending has to be one of the most over-hyped and under-appreciated movements in electronic music today. People have been modifying common household items for musical performance throughout human history. Wine bottles, washboards, and now toy optical guitar synthesizers.
To all of you I say, rock on!
